We’ve been moving each day since we closed but we’ve waited on the big furniture until we could have a moving company help. Today’s the day! The movers should be able to move all of our remaining furniture in just one trip. We’ll still have more to move and we need to get the rental set up for the holiday visitors, but we’ll be living at the farm.

The house looks great, Sarah has done a beautiful job cleaning, buying furniture and household items, and setting up our new home. I’ve never lived anywhere that felt so much like home.

There’s a lot to do on the land as well, though that is not as pressing a need. The oak trees need dead branches trimmed, and the blackberries need to be continually battled. Yesterday we bought a Husqvarna lawn mower. The previous owner bought it new in August and used it just twice before deciding to sell her land. It’ll be great for the lawn areas around the house and the upper pasture, but we’ll need to do something else if it becomes necessary to mow the two larger pastures. I’d love to have a tractor but it may be most cost effective to have the pastures mowed once or twice a year. Our neighbor seems to think that if it is not mowed it becomes a fire hazard. I’ll ask around about that to verify. An alternative would of course be to buy animals.
